The struggles at the ends of games haven't changed in twenty years, save for the two when all the stars aligned. Recruiting isn't close to where it needs to be, and, as the guy at NDHoopRecruits has chronicled, while rival coaches are out recruiting in different corners of the country the days before and after road games, Brey has stated that he recruiting locally until April. Next year's roster, minus Mooney, is downright frightening. It's not at a 1994 MacLeod level, but it's at the lowest level I can recall under Brey.

He should retire and take a TV gig. He'll shine in that role.

A few names to at least call:

- Coach Fran
- Beilein ( I don't care how old he is. He's good and can coach another five years to get the program up to a level of sustained success.)
- Kevin Willard
- Porter Moser
- Bobby Hurley
- Danny Hurley

My guess is Dane Fife has been told he's the heir to the throne in East Lansing, but a call could at least be made.

Beilein is a great coach and the Hurley brothers have a lot of fire and could be good also.

I don't know about the others. I was disappointed in Mooney at the end and Gibbs did not play well at all. Goodwin and Hubb are good players with potential, Hubb because of his athleticism and obvious improvement and Goodwin because of his sound fundamentals. The jury is still out on Laczewski, but his shot is definitely too flat. I never saw so many dumb plays by so many in a game that we had. Carmody was a big loss, he had the best instincts, basketball sense and ability of them all. I cannot believe Durham was a 4 star recruit when he went to UConn, he is incredibly slow footed.

With Swatbrick in charge, I have low hopes for Brey's replacement.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
Invincibility with no vulnerability

Not Swarbrick so much. It's those above him that would prevent a home run hire

His lazy recruiting has finally comeback to bite him. He has got to go.

Your list of coaching names is missing the best candidate

Muffitt McGraw. And yes, I'm dead serious.

If she would take the job (by the way, Tennessee offered Pat Summitt the men's job but she turned it down).

No way! Women's game is different because of athletic ability difference.

And the pro game is completely different than the college game - different rules for defense, different offensive schemes, vastly different athletes. And yet Brad Stevens found a way to be successful, and Coach K coached the NBA players in the Olympics.

There are also women assistant coaches in the NBA and NFL.

This would be a home run hire. Groundbreaking, obviously, But more so, she can coach. It's not that hard to figure out.

Maybe you are on to something, definitely good for PR, but I don't know if she could adjust

to what she would see in athletic ability and strength to coach against something she is not familiar with. I would support her though, but I love Beilein. Good at Le Moyne, good at West Virginia, good at Michigan and would be good for us.

Well that's obvious, but not a reason to not hire a women's coach.

I am telling you it would be hard to switch to a far greater game than the women's game. It is just

TC, there are reasons not to hire Muffet. That's not one of them

That's a sad statement when that's your list. How about:

Gregg Marshall
Mark Few
Kevin Willard
Tommy Amaker
Scott Drew
Chris Beard
John Beilein

My dream would be Chris Holtman, but that ain't happening either. Chances are slim with all of them, but it never hurts to ask.

Or wait two years, and maybe Monty Williams will want to come back.
