The defense tonight was especially putrid. The only one who seems to have much understanding of it is Djogo, who plays a few minutes per game. The team is beyond soft and unathletic. Hubb has the keys to car and he makes the worst decisions on the floor. As it has been for all then about three seasons during Brey's tenure, end-of-game schemes are disastrous. In a number of games already this season, the team has gone back to the old, "Have Chris Thomas dribble from sideline to sideline and fire up a three," with Hubb assuming that role. Brey should've had someone on the bench alongside him long ago whose job is to be the bench coach and manage X's and O's. For all his problems, Digger was one of the very best in the game on the bench, which is why his teams over the years beat all those number one opponents. Meanwhile, Brey's teams haven't beaten a ranked opponent at home in three-plus years. That's a stunning, demoralizing stat.
There are some excellent A-10 coaches who would probably jump at this job. There are probably even some successful Big East coaches who would take it. Bottom line, there are coaches out there who would take this job who would do a better job recruiting and who would field tougher teams.

who is consistent. As improved as Laczewski seems to be, he still shoots a flat ball which is reflected in his poor foul shooting percentage. Hubb is athletic and makes some tough shots but he is so sloppy with the ball that it is frustrating. Goodwin has sound fundamentals but his quickness is non existent, Durham is just not a force in the middle although he played the best I have ever seen him against Virginia. I cannot understand how Ryan can look so good with his form on his shot and yet miss every one it seems the last 3 games. The new guy Wertz looks like a player and now he has a sprained ankle.
