Since the obvious choice will be Martin Inglesby why not do what Purdue did?

When Keady retired they brought in Painter a year earlier
Mike has earned the right to leave when he wants why not bring in Inglesby now, and he can take over in a year

Martin Inglesby was a brey assistant at ND for 8 years. He's obviously not the answer.

ND's biggest barrier is the coaches salary. We are not likely to get any top notch assistants from blueblood programs.

ND will face criticism if they don't hire a black coach.
