Note everyone in sweet 16 is from Biggies. What will happen to the stars of mid majors is they will Portal and move to money.
Most of these NIL kids will never play pro. Will they have a good degree or does that matter based on where most come from.
I am for developing a conference where kids are truly student athletes. Yes, I am naive, but see the sadness of NIL on collegiate athletics.
There are around 350 D1 programs in hoops. Over 200 have not played in NCAA post season in last 8 years and this will continue.
Holy Cross had a good frosh. He is gone. They will be back to losing to Westfield state.

Yes. Depressing. College basketball has become the Premier League where the rich get richer.

The transfer portal is the bigger culprit, where players can switch schools with no prohibitions like sitting out a year.

Big football revenue swallows up college basketball. It will be tougher and tougher for the Big East schools to stay relevant.

Google “NCAA Tournament (plug in a year)” and you will see mid major teams consistently making Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight runs in tournament. Always fun.
