Talked with the father of a D1 player in the portal.

His current mid-major program has been a regular participant in the NCAA Tournament. He's 6'10" and averaged 10 ppg. and 6 rpg. mostly as a sixth man. His dad told me that he has visits set up with Power Four schools and offers in six figures. Frankly, he would be a good addition to ND's roster. His dad said that money is #3 on the list, behind a winning program and a good coaching fit/family culture. His dad also said that a grad degree doesn't figure much into the equation because the focus will be on basketball, so his son will only take minimal credits.

THIS is how it's done.... and why ND has no prayer.

There is no 4 for 40 in basketball.

ND has to decide what the commitment to basketball will be. Make a plan and execute it.

We’re not going to buy a team of one and dones or buy a starting five from the portal like Michigan. But we can not half-ass it like we are now. There is plenty of room in the middle to be successful.

This is where I think ND can shine. Guys that have balled out but didn’t get the attention out of high school.
