Particularly if they add one of the two wings they're looking at, James White out of New Orleans, and Ofri Naveh, out of Oral Roberts. Both started out at SEC programs, transferred to a lower level, and performed well. White scored 19 per game at NO.
Why do I make this ridiculous claim? I think these transfers were scouted/appraised better than most of the previous recruits. For all the touting of Shrewsberry's HS recruits, most of them did not pan out. Carey Booth, Sir Mohammad, and even to a certain extent Jalen Haralson (he couldn't make a shot past 15 feet.) The jury is still even out on Brady Koehler. ND will have its first authentic point guard since Eric Atkins. Burton wasn't a point guard. Prentiss Hubb wasn't a point guard. Matt Farrell was a terrific guard, but he was a shooting guard, too. Braeden Moore will think pass first and take care of the ball. I think Logan Duncomb will be ND's best big man since Jack Cooley. Paul Atkinson was a nice player, but Duncomb is taller, is a little more athletics, has even more moves in the paint, and can block shots. Duncomb would've been an excellent pickup for any ND team in the past. Finally, Moore, Devin Brown, and Bryce Dortch all pride themselves on their defense. This team should be much better defensively overall.
Shrewsbury will be here until end of 27/28 season unless he chooses to go.
I don't agree with that but that's how it will be. During that time...ND needs to determine if it wishes to compete at the highest levels of college basketball or not.
If so, the financial resources need to be in place and they need to spend this time to focus on getting the absolute best (clean) coach available.
If ND does not want to aspire to compete at the highest level of college basketball, and I can see legitimate reasons why they might not, they need to be open and up front about theirdecisions and reasoning.

It is a lot to ask a bunch of freshmen and sophomores to turn around a program like Notre Dame. Save a Fab 5 type of recruiting class, there just wasn’t going to be a lot of wins with the group we had. Hopefully the portal additions start getting us headed in the right direction but we also need the coaching to be stellar.
