When was the last time ND pulled off a legitimate upset?

I'm trying to wrack my brain and think of a game where ND was an 8+ point underdog and pulled it off. When I was growing up there were many games that were labeled "Notre Dame moments" where ND pulled off the completely unexpected. Just wanted to hear what the board thinks. When do you think was ND's last big upset?

“I wonder how many people I’ve looked at all my life and never seen.”

Maybe Oklahoma 2012? And weren't we about 7 pt underdogs both times against LSU?

This got me thinking about the Georgia spread last year, so I looked it up. We opened at -6.

I was polling the board to see everyone else's opinion on what they felt was the last big upset for ND. Just a simple conversation starter during December. Nothing more, nothing less.

Header seemed negative. When was the last time Alabama pulled off a legitimate upset?

But, I can see from your response that you didn’t mean it the same way as NDNation traitors do, so I am sorry for associating you with them.

I was wondering today, if ND pulls off the W against Clemson, where does that rank in recent history? That's why I posed the question. I started thinking back to the most recent upsets. Like the other posters that responded, 2012 Oklahoma came to mind first, but I could not recall the point spread. But hey man, if you think that's negative, so be it.

Again, I believe you, but we live in an era where whiny bitches have websites.

I can see where it prompted the thought. Hopefully December 29th is the next.

I assume we were dogs for Stanford this year and LSU in the bowl game? What were the spreads?

Other than that, Oklahoma in 2012.

I can't remember what the spread was against LSU. The only game this year we were underdogs was Michigan. (+2.5)

How about the last time we beat the spread by more than 10? Lol. USC & NC State last year?

Earlier in the 2012 season, Michigan State was -5 when it hosted ND.

Going further back, Utah was -5.5 when it took on 4-5 Notre Dame (coming off the Tulsa loss) during Brian Kelly's first season in 2010. Utah had been ranked #6 and just suffered its first loss to #4 TCU.

More recently, LSU was -7 in the 2014 Music City Bowl.

OU was favored by 11.5.
