Wonder how long Meyer has known. Did he quit on recruiting early?

Seems strange that they are ranked so low in the team rankings. I don't think tOSU has typically made a late surge in the rankings. They've always ranked well from beginning to end. Either way, it should be a positive moving forward.

You could be onto something
I just checked their prospect list on 247, they are in on one five star defensive end from Ohio, who is crystal balled to Michigan right now, and beyond that the number of top level prospects is pretty bare. I assume they'll end up with a full class, I don't follow them closely, but they are 12th now with 15 commits.
Of course, them doing "poorly" includes a class with two five stars and four top 100 players. I imagine they finish somewhere between 5-10 nationally. Impressive, but they are ranked number one on roster talent according to 247, so 5-10 is a pretty big drop.
Interesting
He left cupboard bare when he left Florida.....Gators have never been the same since he left
Crappy coaching choices, lousy recruiting and inability to hold onto QB recruits....
The West Virginia QB will likely be a top 3 NFL pick....meanwhile Florida has Felipe Franks...not to mention at least two other QB defections that now play in the NFL
He is a great coach, but he also gets what he wants and looks the other way with questionable players (and now coaches).
It's all about him. Always.

As to Florida, it's almost shocking how far they fell. A decent year this year, but probably one of the worst Top 10 teams I have seen.
Their offense sucks
Any team that has Felipe Franks as QB.....can't be very good
That's true. Question is, why is he the best they have? That's very bad recruiting.

I think it's the history of how they treated Will Grier, and the other two defectors
All of whom are or will be playing in the NFL. One left for NC State and the other for Boston College.
Dakich said Meyer was upset OSU didn't back him
I'd assume he's known all year. Threw the smokescreen of 2020 when it looked like he might make the playoffs.
For once, I think Dakich is right
I think that Meyer honestly believes he did nothing wrong in the Zach Smith domestic violence mess. He feels that Ohio State should have backed his position, and feels that Ohio State instead disrespected him with the 3 game suspension. I think Meyer knew then that he was leaving. He stuck around because he hoped to win a National Championship and thumb his nose at Ohio State when he resigned.
I think that Meyer intentionally leaked that he was "retiring" approximately 2 weeks prior to the early signing day in hopes of hurting Ohio State's recruiting class. If he loved Ohio State, he would have delayed making it known until after the early signing period.
In fairness, Dakich’s track record is not strong

Dakich and the Meyer's are very close
They lived next to each other at Bowling Green and have remained very close after.
Seems right...also further highlights why he doesn't belong at ND.

Just like his brother Tressel, osu gave him a chance to resign or be fired
I'M SURE of that. You can only fake illness and lies for so long
Whatever you say
Your incredible disdain for OSU draws into question anything you say about Ohio State and Meyer
I pretty much ignore your commentary
Guessing you arent even an ND grad correct?
What does his graduate status have to do with this conversation?...
While I’ve grown to like your political posts and your disdain for FrankL on the Open, you continue to be a snarky bitch on the footy. Are you this much of an asshole in person? I’d like to think not.
Re: Whatever you say
If you ignore it, then how did you read it?? YES. I have a huge dislike for a lowly program and coach like osu. You are quick to judge on your own personal agenda and put your hands over your eyes to the truth.
I am a 1969 ND Graduate. Which makes no difference. Keep up your good work, Mr Perfect.
