Real Possibility

BW is transferring (wish him the best!) I fully expect Phil Jurkovec to emerge as the starter next year. I like IB, but i have a feeling he does not have the mental strength to swallow his pride and remain the backup next year behind Phil and see a real scenario that he looks to transfer too, especially with the 4 game rule.

I feel like this leaves ND is a real problem. As much as i like Phil's potential, i think we all know you need a very good backup. Past Phil/IB, there isn't a lot on the roster... i would imagine they would move avery davis back to QB??? other then that, its pretty empty, Brendon Clark is coming in, but he won't be ready...

We know very little about Jurkovec. All QBs have great high school video footage. He has shown nothing in the few snaps he's had. But, people are convinced he is better. I can't figure it out.

People will express their disagreement with you in different ways. You shouldn't worry about that.

We go through the back up QB thing every year, it seems. That doesn't mean you are wrong. It does mean that some people will put you in the "backup QB box" and then take their exasperation at that box and express it at you.

That is why i said i have a feeling.... i didn't say i have proof. i just dont "THINK" he will want to go back to the bench after being the starter and i "THINK" he will not have the same team first attitude that BW did. plus i "THINK" he will not want to waste 1 more year of eligibility being a back up after being on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Also i "THINK" Phil will beat him out. Im not basing this off of this game, and i was wrong on book this year, i did not "THINK" he would be as good as he was, but was pleasantly surprised. That being said, i "THINK" Phil is better and can do more.

An experienced Ian Book with a whole season under his belt, and a better understanding of the offense should win out over an inexperienced Phil Jurkovec.

If Phil Jurkovec can run the offense as smoothly, but also present a greater downfield threat, then he deserves a shot. Otherwise, it's Ian Book's to lose.

Either way, the offense will be able to operate at near full efficiency.

and we will be a very good team and possible contender again. Jurkovic will wait in the wings and provide some relief if necessary but will be the starter once Book graduates and is drafted. Jurkovic will keep us strong and may even lead us brilliantly and we will consistently be one of the best 5 teams in the country.

This season rates as an excellent season with only one loss but disappointing because we had a shot and that is what you want every year. Just like Rocky, we took a shot. I have to laugh at someone who suggested it would be better to be 12-1 but winning the ball game therefore not making the playoffs. Any team worth its salt wants a shot at the top. It is better to have failed after trying your best than to not try at all and settle for the participant trophy.

I think he says "Jesus Christ" in the original. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed out loud at the dub job. Not the effect they were going for, I think.

Too much Chicken Little attitude in here. Book did a very nice job this year. Has some intangibles nobody has mentioned. He had a bad game against a very good team. Don't bail on him because of one game.

If Jurkovic is ready the better player will win the nod. I don't care which one it is as long as they keep piling up W's and improve the way we show up in big games.

Ross Browner should have won the heisman

i agree, i have no problem with Book at all, he has done everything asked of him. He has some strengths, some weaknesses, i just have a feel Phil is better and will win the Job. I also expect Book to get better in the offseason.
