Perspective: remember the term 'clemsoning'?

It wasn't long ago that Clemson was derided for failing to show up on the big stage, for flaming out spectacularly.

Things change very quickly in the world of collegiate athletics. Knee-jerk reactions to single games or single seasons are usually proven wrong.

I like the trajectory of ND football.

They did go 35 years from ‘81, their first to their second NC in 2016

Clemson's "embarrassment of riches" with top talent didn't really kick off until 2015.

One player (Deshaun Watson) put them in a position to compete with the best and subsequently get rolling with recruiting. It's a little more complex than that, but the point is that things can change quickly.

I don't believe illusions because too much is for real.

If ND does that, things will fall into place and the program will get to where we want it.

There is no other reasonable choice.

I remember when Alabama sucked too. Amazing what PED's and no academic standards will do...

...for a program. Toss in a decent head coach who can recruit and you're off to the races.

The path to success is clear...and has been for some time now.

Sounds like reality. Sour grapes as to what...because I think colleges should do a better job?

Long in advance, I've said the system is sad. This is separate from ND and what it can or can not achieve.

Let's pretend three Clemson players in a small sampling didn't just get popped for Ostarine. How many would have tested positive if the whole team was tested?

Not much mention that Clemson ran a dirty program this year.

Success is the greatest perfume and it will be swept under the rug for the most part. Guess we should pretend other schools should follow their "model".

I'm sure most will...

But you also could be wrong

And for now it sounds like sour grapes

Which is what college football is used to hearing from ND fans....a lot of whining

Thread Level: 6

Sorry...but it's a point about college football independent of ND.

May never know what? That Clemson's players tested positive for Ostarine?

I haven't said ND would beat them without the Ostarine? I'm saying it's a shitty model.

That colleges should be about student-athletes not athlete-students?

Again the comment was about the Clemson "model". I'm not naïve and don't think college athletics will actually be run properly...just that it should.

Interesting to have a topic brought up and then say that honest commentary about it is whining...

So I think it was more than just College football in general

And many folks on here are claiming everyone at Clemson must be on PEDs too

But when I accuse many of making excuses they all deny it

TCarr keeps droning on and on about what some fucking NFL official said in a tweet and that is why we lost

But dont worry, no one here is making excuses
