Link: Rocket Ismail Didn't Need the Hall of Fame to be Legendary
Rocket's freshmen season, ND was undefeated.
Sophomore season they lost only to National Champ Miami
Junior season they lost 3 games: 1 to Stanford in a game Rocket didn't play in (nobody to this day knows why), 1 to Penn St in a game they were winning when Rocket got hurt in the first half, then lost when he didn't return; and 1 to Colorado (the phantom clip).
With Rocket on the field ND basically beat everyone they played except No. 1 Miami in 89.

I still think it's a crime that he didn't get the Heisman, and an even bigger crime they threw that flag on the "non clip."
so long for him to get in. He was a great player and an even greater person, from what I have read.
I wrote a piece on him about three years ago, he was my top player from the last 30 years. When we posted it to Twitter I tagged him on it. He replied back to me that he couldn't wait ti read it and thank you. Very nice of him to do that. Jeff Burris did the same thing this year. Good guys.
