I think college football in general is looking for the next Rocket
If you expand beyond ND, are there any players which were exciting as the Rocket?
I really can’t think of any. Closest I have seen recently is Purdue’s Rondale Moore. (He does not have the same supporting cast as the Rocket did, but he is used similarly.). He was a big part of the tOSU beat down this year.

I hate to say it but a couple of former Michigan Players come to mind
Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson
Peter Warrick and Reggie Bush also come to mind.

Yes. There are a few every year, but it depends on your definition of exciting. Some have played R
B, other Qb or WR some on defense. Special teams no longer is what it was during rocket’s timeframe, so they arent as obvious.

In fairness, Sanders looked like an elite playmaker in the making as a freshman.
Not sure what happened after that. One of the more head scratching regressions I've seen.-
