At UCF, he's going to be facing weaker defenses in the AAC.
If he went to FSU, then he would be facing bigger, stronger, and faster defenses in the ACC. As much improved as the AAC has become over the years, there's still a big talent gap when you consider the average team in that league versus the ACC.
This way, he'll be a lot more relaxed, and be able to go through receiver progressions at a more relaxed pace. I suspect that he'll post decent passing numbers at UCF.
Maybe this will give him a chance to learn on the job, and become the complete quarterback we had hoped he could be at ND. I hope he does.
He wont even win the starting job.....a quite possible scenario
I expect Wimbush to start the opener for UCF. What happens after that, . . hard to say. I think it is a decent fit for him. So he might thrive. Or he might go the way of Golson. If he struggles, there will be a point at which it just makes more sense to play the guy who will be there in 2020 instead.
There's no guarantee he would have won the starting job at FSU either even with Francois gone.
Doesn't FSU have that Blackmon kid from a couple of seasons ago returning? I know Blackmon didn't set the world on fire 2 years ago but until Wimbush can prove he can consistently be accurate on his throwing, he's going to have a difficult time winning the starting job at any school where they aren't running the option which is essentially every school outside the service academies.
I agree. They have two good QBs I realize one of them is hurt though
That is a certainty. I don't think the backup distinguished himself enough to block Wimbush. I expect Wimbush to have the job going into the season.
