“They’ll likely never match other top teams at the skill positions in terms of raw talent,“

ND needs to “hit” with a couple of the WR recruits from last year.

Lenzy, Keys, Austin. And really needs to hit with K Williams. Margin for error is thin, but the potential is there.

Agree. Why they haven't had more success at the skill positions in the past few years is beyond me.

Our stable of running backs is awful, and our receivers average at best. Let's hope we can do more with less.

I like last years haul of WRs.

RB has been a struggle. The new RB coach hopefully turns that around.

Notre Dame has done more with less, which is good. But they need a very favorable board.

And I could have been wrong writing that about not matching other top teams, but just looking at the last 20 years of recruiting, plus Kelly's stated goal, it seems that way. Last cycle they were never in it with top 100, even top 200, guys at the skill positions (I'm omitting QB here, which is a different story). Pretty much the same last season with the exception of Kevin Austin.

Luckily, the 2020 board looks really good for Notre Dame in terms of player fit and interest in Notre Dame among top 100 players. They already have two tight ends and quarterback committed who are in the top 120, with one right at 100. A similar recruiting ranking this season would be a disappointment. Can't let these opportunities go by, because they come every 3-4 years.

Roller coaster recruiting at its best.
