I agree, but vertical passing game still needs some work. The one deep pass to Claypool was a thing of beauty though. Go Irish

Our vertical passing game is still the same predictable outlook. Only one pass was thrown down the middle on a seam route the TE, everything was the same as usual throw the deep sideline routes but no deep posts or anything like to the receivers. They did run a couple of screens which I did like.

I agree, he looks ready to start. I don’t see Phil overtaking him.

Not after today’s display. I kept thinking about all those who were crying for him to play last

All of those guys have no clue what they are talking about. Never been close.

Jurko isn't bad, but he's further behind than Rees was at the same age, just as an example. Those same guys hated Rees, so it doesn't make sense why there's so much love. He's okay but still a huge work in progress if he ever wants to be a starter. I'm not convinced he'll do much more than back up.

Weak arm and thinks too much. He's playable, but doesn't seem to have the starter makeup.

I agree about Book

The offense looked good today until Phil came in. RBs, TEs, WRs, OL all looked good.

So did Phil suck? Was he confused? Happy feet? Inaccurate? Scared? Rusty w/o enough reps?

Just not all that developed. Okay, but not good. Needs a ton of work to get to starter material.

Kelly said basically the same thing. Stop thinking and just throw the ball to the open guy. Just let your talent go and use it. It was actually a shocking statement for Kelly to have made. It was almost like an oxymoron as Kelly preaches do it my way, I don't care how talented you are.

In a write up prior to today’s game the author stated he needed to work on his short passing and

using the pocket, but his long bombs are on. Book has shown just the opposite and having troubles with the long passes.

It appears if Book gets hurt ND will be in trouble against decent defenses

It appears you hit the nail on the head. Wimbush would have been a better back up.

Inaccurate and the timing is way off. This may just need time, but the ball is very ugly and his release is slow and awkward. Good runner though

Didn't suck but he has a long way to go in my opinion. Hopefully more and more reps will help immensely. Agree on his release. Slow and ugly.

I think I've seen this scenario before.

That's why we should all disregard those stars and all the articles of how wonderful they are before

they take a college snap. Such a different game. And articles are sales material not reality. We've definitely seen this story a few times. Unfortunately too many.

I wish people would ignore recruiting rankings they seem like a good idea but a terrible barometer of talent.
