By all accounts it sounds as though Tyree is a done deal.
Brian Kelly brought in Lance Taylor because he understood that after Dexter Williams and Jafar Armstrong, the roster desperately needed a game breaker at RB and I believe that Tyree will provide that. What I like about him is that he runs an offense quite similar to what ND runs right now. Driskell has a nice analysis about how he can be used in the screen game, how excellent his vision is, etc. If he does commit and sign, you wonder if the staff would like for him to EE..the one vice here is that he's a pretty small guy right now and several months with Balis would do wonders.
Don't think anyone could argue with the production Denson was able to get out of Prosise, Folston, Adams and Williams but he was fortunate to have Alford's recruits and he just was unable to consistently land a top RB. What I haven't seen talked about is that Alford, in addition to landing top backs, was responsible for landing a lot of elite talent other than the RB position. Kelly seems confident because he's sent Taylor out on trips to visit players who aren't RB so that says something here.

"done deal" = signed LOI
It is certainly a great sign that the kid wants to play for ND at this time.
But just because a recruit with this much talent verbals to ND doesn't mean that everyone else is going to leave the guy alone.
I think it’s reasonable to assume he means a done deal to commit
I think it’s also reasonable to assume he knows players decommit or transfer regularly.

But given all the verbals that don't turn into LOIs, I reserve my enthusiasm for the LOI.

Agree on the RB staff. Denson could get something out of nothing, I have no issues with his player development. What was grossly obvious was his inability to recruit the position. I do think part of that was they wanted him to open up a pipeline to Florida, where we have now learned the Virginia's/ Carolina's/ Georgia territories are a bit more profitable and where we should have been spending our time.
Should Tyree end up Irish, you have to tip your cap first to Lance Taylor, but yet again to Kelly. Talk about a transformation. Overhauled the staff and has hit a homerun at every position- key part in that success was having the vision to retain Mike Elston. Taylor was the perfect hire at the perfect time, big boy recruiter who can get it done- and looks like he has with Tyree.
Curious on what happens at RB the rest of the 2020 cycle. Was part of the deal with Tyree that we wouldn't bring in another back? or is there wiggle room to grab another back to compliment Tyree's skill set?

Would like to add Michael Drennen
He's a running back from Brady Quinn's old stomping grounds (Dublin-Coffman). He's more of a combo RB / WR, but he does both very well, runs routes cleanly, and hits the running lands quickly.
It's going to be tough to pry him away from the state of Ohio, though. Tony Alford is in hot pursuit and seems be in pretty good graces with the kid.
Running Back
There are definitely a few running backs worth taking in this class. Personally I prefer Tirek Murphy, but its splitting hairs after Tyree.
What I don't want to do is take a RB at the determent of the Tyree recruitment.
Part of the sell at ND (and I am guessing here) is obviously the education, but also the ability to circumvent the depth chart should Tyree be as advertised.
If that sentiment is true, I don't want them going after ANY OTHER backs in this cycle.
Sounds like if they add Tyree they’ll be done at RB this cycle

Dont think converting RBs/WRs is hardly a thing anymore. Keep him in the backfield...
More dangerous coming out and getting matched up with a LB instead of a CB who is nearly as quick. Or have him motion out..bring a LB or S out with him...versus just lining up in the slot.
Guys like Alvin Kamara are becoming more n more prevalent. Getting more athletes on the field puts more pressure on the D.
Having Tyree and Armstrong in the backfield would be 2 state track champions with different builds and running styles then throw athletes like
Claypool, another track champion in Lenzy, and Austin out there...with an accurate QB who finds the mismatch quickly...that's scary. Just making Tyree
a WR takes one of those other guys off the field.
There was some discussion around signing day that Abdur-Rahman could move there
He’s got the game for it and Notre Dame obviously has a track record.
If I remember right, ND passed on a couple of other WRs and then took Abdur-Rahman largely because
. . . of his versatility to play WR or RB (and his perceived big-play potential).

The guy played QB in high school, not sure he has a pegged position.
Taking 1-2 "Athletes" each cycle covers up deficiencies at WR/RB/DB.
