Something to keep in mind when gauging where Notre Dame is in terms of recruiting gains

If everything breaks perfect for them and they land the top guys left on the board (which it won't), that'd leave them with 8 in the top 100, and 12 in the top 125, they'd still finish behind Clemson and Alabama, plus probably LSU. What's more likely is they finished somewhere between 6 and 12. Those teams are always on this level, even above this.

I don't view them as closing the gap between them and the top schools, but more widening the gap between them and the Stanford's, USC's, Virginia Tech's, and Northwestern's of the world. They will always have 1or 2 marquee games on the schedule, this year Georgia, next year Clemson. Staying away from the stupid losses to those lesser teams is just as important as picking off a big one, like we did last year against Michigan. That's the big development with this class, creating distance from teams in their tier, than closing the gap to Alabama and Clemson.

I am glad we're in on a few top 50 difference makers. Chris Tyree and Jordan Johnson are the guys we need to have a chance against Clemson/Bama/UGA. We did not have guys like those two last year.
