$HIT ALL OVER ND Saturday after Saturday with their progressive mentality. Here we are 25 years later and look at the state of NCAA. Just a money pit with education not even falling into the top 10 priorities for the sport. The sport will never be the same and I project that by 2024 there will be no more requirements to be a student to play.

And ESPN has never been a big fan of ND.

So sad, monopolies everywhere in all the things I love.

Rocket Ismail was 100% robbed. He was far and away the best college player that year, total rob job, I'll never get over that and the "clip" against Colorado that probably cost ND a title.

Teo did not get robbed. He was fairly placed second. Johnny Football was probably THE MOST electric Heisman winner in the last 25 years and absurdly deserving of the award.

They already had a couple losses that year. One of them late in the year. But it robbed college football fans of the perfect ending to the college career of one of the most electric players ever.

It also allowed a non deserving team to claim the title. Colorado had the infamous 5th down TD against Mizzou that year and should not have been undefeated nor number one.

If i remember correctly, the AP picked the NC every year at that time (which was a process driven by corruption and favoritism)

Had ND won that game I would be certain the voters would have given them at least a share of the NC that year.. even with 3 losses.

Georgia Tech won the Coaches' Poll and split the title with Colorado (the A.P. champ). There is a real possibility that the A.P. Poll would have jumped N.D. to #1 had we beaten the Buffaloes.

We did indeed have 2 losses, but the A.P. Top 2 through 5 finishers (after C.U.) were Georgia Tech (11-0-1), Miami (10-2), Florida State (10-2), and Washington (10-2).

Had we beaten #1 Colorado in that game, there is zero doubt that we would have been voted ahead of all of the other 2-loss teams. It would have come down to Georgia Tech and us. For whatever reason, the A.P. voters that year just did not seem to have much respect for Georgia Tech. They had them second behind Colorado both before and after their Orange Bowl win over us, despite Colorado having a loss. Our theoretical win over Colorado would have given us victories over 4 Top Ten opponents and 7 Top-25 opponents. Georgia Tech beat a single Top Ten opponent and 4 Top-25 teams. And we would have just beaten the team they had ranked above Tech.

The A.P. voters really, really liked the 1990 Irish team all year long. There is a real chance that a win over Colorado would have given us the A.P. National Championship (the U.P.I. Coaches Poll would have gone to Georgia Tech).

Had the Rocket punt return stood, it would probably go down as the greatest college football moment in history.

I remember as a child seeing the ND replays on Sunday mornings. No ESPN and there were literally two network football games televised on a Saturday. So, money and TV lead to more exposure for more players on numerous teams around the country. ND enjoyed a long period as the epitome of college football. It doesn’t have that anymore.
