Watching a replay of the game. There is no O line push. Somethings wrong

On the plane to Atlanta so watching a replay of the UNM game.

ND has a O line size advantage but doesn’t get any push. They are not very physical. I would think if I was Quinn and Kelly watching game film I would try to fix this right? WTF?

ND’s line is in a 2 point stance way too much IMHO

I’m hoping he’s just setting Ga up. The alternative is too painful to contemplate.

RBs aren’t hitting the right holes at the right tempo and Book is getting happy and looking short.

The line, specifically the center and guards, don't re-establish the LOS.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

It’s rarely I see pulling guards or a sweep play. Why not get under center with a full house

backfield. Why also stay in the shot gun? I don’t get it.

They play too high and "catch" defenders too much. They all do it, and have for years, so it has to be how they're being taught.

Can't get push if you're standing up and waiting for defenders to come to you. Even the times they do go attack a defender they rarely go past the LOS. It's like they're being taught to just get in the defenders' way.

Maybe they spend to much time learning to pass block. But Book won’t stay in the pocket.

control the ball at crunch time has cost us numerous games including the one point loss to Georgia when we had the ball and a one point deficit with time running out and all we had to do was get into field goal range and it will cost more games unless Kelly admits we have a problem and finally does something about it.

Thread Level: 2

We haven't had a physical o-line since Coach Moore. It's been about finesse since then.

What are these NFL teams thinking, drafting ND linemen so high? They must be really quick learners making All-Pros and rookie Pro Bowlers...

Thread Level: 4

I don't recall saying the line has been really poor for the last 30 years. Did I write that?

Come on man. The NFL scouts see impressive lineman that just need coaching. Why can’t

they get a one yard first down at ND but be all pro in the NFL. Could it be coaching?

But they’re doing their jobs. Watch the games again with missed running lanes. And my nfl comment was more geared towards UMND. Finesse =~soft in my book and that’s a shallow argument considering the players BK has coached to high draft picks. NFL teams rarely draft project linemen in the first round without some sort of combine freakishness. If anything, teams had more concern that players like Zach Martin and Quentin Nelson were closer to a finished product nearing their ceiling. Obviously not a major concern considering their performance. There’s also McGlinchy and Stanley.

Except he wasn’t an individual success. They won the JOE MOORE award for best line just 2 years ago.
