Clearly he thinks the kid is worth the scholarship. Also, maybe it means he doesn't think much of the guys we have other than Tyree.
Six backs wasn't really tenable, seven certainly isn't. Either position change or transfer, but it can't stay like this.
At least, he's been working out with the WR group during the off season, for what that is worth.
It's also not really a move at all since that's where he lined up in most of the snaps he played last year (despite being listed on the RB depth chart).
But we haven't seen all that much of the younger guys. If the coaches don't have much confidence in them, and the new RB coach does feel like he could be an asset, why not. It really depends upon what they think of Flemister, Smith and Williams. Tyree is probably too light to be a bell cow back at this point and a freshman to boot, so even if he is all that, I can't see them wanting him to get more than about 10 touches per game. I'm not sure what to think they expect from Armstrong at this point, maybe he was just too dinged up last year to add much, but he didn't impress.
I did like the way Flemister ran hard, but he didn't show much in the way of big play ability. I hate to admit it, but I get Smith and Williams mixed up, but at least one of them did show some potential. If any of them are transferring, that would change the equation.

and/or a short yardage lead blocker (but they usually use a TE in the backfield for that).
