So I can understand anticipating we can't have tens of thousands gather for the Blue-Gold game, but

the idea that healthy young men can't engage out of doors in athletics -- in other words, have spring practice -- strikes me as ridiculous. I have a son who plays college lacrosse. He's a sophomore. Their season is likely to be diminished if not shut down. I can understand avoiding games that will involve air travel, but his team has lots of games against schools within a two-hour drive. Again, healthy young athletes running around out of doors ... seems not only low-risk but in some ways preventative. Or maybe I just don't get it...

I guess one concern would be a young person passing it to someone who is compromised

If, by young, you mean a child, that ain’t gonna happen.

It's well documented that kids get this. LA doesn't have the first case. Kids get it, some get a sniffle, maybe even a fever, then they recover. But they're really good at SPREADING it, because they're kids and like to wipe things and don't wash their hands.

LA may have a case of an immunocompromised child suffering worse symptoms, but all these other comments are poppycock.

A poster said that kids don't get this disease. I pointed out that Los Angeles reported a child contracting the illness. So, unless they're lying, this underscores that kids aren't immune.

Point is, we need a lot more info regarding this case. Did the child have underlying health issues? Did the family have access to medical care, or did they need to wait until it was an emergency? On and on..,.

At first, I thought this was one of those yearly viral outbreaks that's overblown by authorities. But China doesn't shut down its most important manufacturing sector, Italy and Spain don't go into full quarantine, because if a bad case of the flu. Something else has to be going on....

wonder is this child is significantly compromised in other health-related matters.

I don't know. I just put out the possibility that someone may be disassembling. But in no way did I mean to claim that it was a definitive lie. I'm simply pointing out that a kid in an American megalopolis has contracted the disease...
