the best players on the field. Right now a couple of injuries play into this also. Tremble is good, Mayer is very good. Tremble had several drops. Wilkins needs to be on the field. Foskey needs to be on the field. McKinley needs to be in the field. Since we are fairly deep at the position, any receiver not fighting to get open every play needs to sit. Lenzy and Austin are no-brainers to be on the field but are dinged. Others?
The OL undoubtedly needs to be better especially at the interior, where they seemed to catch their blocks and not fire off the ball, get low and drive their guys back. Book missed almost two sure touchdown's and possibly a third with the missed screen to Williams. If he connects with Keys and doesn't miss a wide open Tremble (or maybe it was Keys) we're having a different conversation. This Saturday though, no excuses. Can't blame the rust any longer.

"We want to do the ordinary things extraordinarily well." So we got lots of first down tuns up the middle that went nowhere and drop-back passing plays that were easily defended. Then when they got some misdirection going, everything opened up. I think it's more a matter of game-planning and not wanting to show too much against inferior athletes. I would expect more of the same this week. I hope getting Lenzy back will mean we have another athlete (like Williams at RB and Mayer at TE) who can turn vanilla into real sweetness.

High potential, but true freshman, who didn't get spring practice. Do you really believe the coaches sit better players just because? If so, why did they play Mayer?

His depth chart management and game day rosters leave a lot to be desired and a lot of talent sitting on the bench. I'm almost hairless from all the head scratching. He caters to mediocrity when he has excellence available.
...I understand the frustration. If Tremble has another game like that, and Mayer tears it up, OK. But it was the first game after an unprecedented offseason - let's see how Saturday goes. I hope to heck they shine.

Would Joe Williams have played without injury? Doubtful. What about the FR that are soooooo good? Why not give them a shot when we are in a depleted injury situation? What could be worse than them running a route where they are nothing but covered. This seems to happen anyway with our #1 WRs...
the vast majority of your posts.
argue the dog house doesn't exist and he tends to sit his better players for almost stupid reasons. If you can, you're just seeing what you want to see and not what is. It's been discussed very well over the years by more than just me.
At this point, it's almost a running joke. What top talent is Kelly going to put in his dog house this season?
My problem with it is that it's costly to the record.
