It shouldn't be allowed, the NCAA from the beginning should have outlawed the practice,
ruling that you represent your university and unis wlll absolutely not be utilized for social statements.If employers want to let their pro employees do it, that's one thing but we saw how social statements went over in the NBA . No one watched

So if the "End Racism" jerseys were directed specifically as a tribute to MLK
or some other "hero," like John Lewis who died earlier this year, that would make all the difference? Then it would be a "good thing" to the "adults in the room?" This seems very much like an "eye of the beholder" situation to me. Also, "End Racism" seems like a completely anodyne sentiment. It also seems as thought the goal post is moving a bit. The comment I responded to said uniforms should not be used to make "social statements," which seems to me to encompass both the Gopher jerseys AND the red bandana tribute. Now we've shifted to "politically motivated."
You knucklehead, everyone wants to end racism, but the assumed guilt that the jersey shows assumes
everyone wants racism.
I'm not a fan of the uniforms or the messaging. That's not what I'm getting at here.
If I was connected to the Minnesota program, I wouldn't have been in favor of those uniforms. Probably for reasons different than your reasons. I don't see "end racism" as a "everyone wants racism" statement anymore than I see an "end cancer" statement to mean "everyone wants cancer." My issue with the messaging is that it is just virtue signaling, and I think it tends to substitute for meaningful action by self-congratulatory people. So I didn't like the uniforms either. The reason I got involved in the discussion was just to recall the reaction to the red bandana jerseys last week in contrast.
