“Silencer” double entendre a very bad word choice.

Who in their right mind cares what he thinks?

Thread Level: 3

Who cares? Lots of sports fans. And young athletes who idolize him.

Don't really see the "double entendre" either. He pounds his chest twice, yells, then does a double hand motion downward toward the ground . . . it is literally about "silencing" the opponents. If he did a finger guns thing (which lots of athletes have done and still do) maybe you'd have a point. But you really just seem to be stretching here. I don't watch the NBA, and don't really care much about James. But I don't see any real reason to criticize him either. I'm guessing Kyren was pleased to get the attention and recognition. He earned it.

Kids who play sports tend to idolize successful athletes. God knows I did. Lebron is about as big as it gets in sports today. A world-famous athlete generated some broad recognition and celebration of a Notre Dame player who played a great game. That you are looking for some negative angle on it is just weird. Kyren appreciated the comment, and apparently is a fan of James. So I guess he's "not in his right mind." Maybe Kelly should kick him off the team.

James is bandwagoning. Brand marketing.

i doubt James’ comments will assist Kyren’s play at all. The Irish are not “LeBron’s Team”. We don’t “win one for LeBron”

The less his brand mingles with ours the better.

IMHO.

That is fine. Nobody is telling you to be a fan of James.

I personally couldn't care less about James or his sport. But you are criticizing people, including a Notre Dame player, for being "fans." It isn't right. Kyren Williams isn't in his "right mind" because he is a fan of one of the NBA's all-time greats? Nobody said "this is Lebron's team." Nobody said "win one for Lebron." And of course it won't "assist Kyren's play." All it is: Somebody noted that one of the most-famous people in the world, a superstar athlete, gave some attention to a deserving Notre Dame football player, who was pleased by it. That's it. (smh)

I have an opinion. I voice it.

James wants his “damn respect”.

He won’t get it from me.

Kyren can adore him if he wants.
James wasn’t there for him when Kyren was fumbling in key situations. James is a fair weather fan. It’s all about him.

Express your opinions freely.
Others may do the same.
It is their “right”

And my opinion is that it "isn't right" to criticize a Notre Dame player on this Notre Dame football fan board because he likes a pro basketball player that you don't happen to like. Fair weather fans do suck, though . . . I can agree with you on that. Though I'm guessing we have different things in mind. Glad you were "there for Kyren" in his time of need . . . you known, when he previously made mistakes on the field that you are bringing up on the board right now in a thread about a UHND article that points to Kyren getting some broad publicity for being a stud in yesterday's game. Key situations and all. Voice away!

If nothing else, as the article in question points out, the attention involved regarding James can only help in recruiting. But you probably don't want that anyway . . . it will only attract players who aren't "in their right minds." Wouldn't want that. Tsk, tsk.

I was pointing to the UHND article that suggested it could help recruiting. It certainly can't hurt recruiting that Kyren Williams is trending on social media because of James. Unless ND is trying recruit a bunch of miserable old men. Which I doubt. Regardless, Kyren is a great player. Fans should be patting him on the back today, not criticizing him because he too is a fan . . . of someone we are not fans of. It's petty. It's NDNation level petty.

Kyren played well yesterday. James is trying to steal his spotlight. That’s wrong.

His “look at me” attitude is beyond barf.

The “Silencer” comment was stupid.

Why didn’t James shout out to kelly or Lea or our white QB?

Beware of false idols, Kyren.

Just be wary.

Kyren mimicked James's celebration on the field. James praised him as a player. That's it.

Lebron doesn't need to steal anyone's "spotlight." He lives in the spotlight. He brought a bit of the spotlight to Kyren outside of the usual ESPN/College Football rays of publicity.

That aside: fine. If that's the case that you think Lebron was stealing the spotlight, why go out of your way to shit on Williams? He's "not in his right mind." What the hell? Because you hate Lebron, which is fine with me, you went out of your way to crap on a Notre Dame player on a Notre Dame football message board because James gave the kid a virtual high five for playing well. I'd like to say it is surprising to see. But it isn't. This is the ugly face of a slice of ND fandom that makes the rest of the country hate ND fans. NDNation is the principal avatar of it, but not exclusively apparently. That you'd rather make sure the kids stay off your lawn than see a Notre Dame player enjoy a moment in the media spotlight is . . . I don't even know what to call it. I hope I am never so miserable.

The “miserable old man— get off my lawn” shtick is infantile gibberish. Cartooning me will not improve your POV.

Your opinion is noted Letvthecrrcruiting chips fall where they may. Please be sure to document the recruits.

His tweet at Kyren became a story. It is still trending. It is publicity. Might that help recruiting? I would think so with social media being so primary with young people today. But what do I know? I did catch by the way that you injected race into it. Why didn't Lebron acknowledge our "white QB." Dear god. Tell you what, . . see if you can get Book or Mayer to do "the Silencer" next game. Maybe Lebron will tweet about it. Then you'll have something else to complain about. Win/win.
