I agree with Fowler's comparison of Book to Tarkenton & Staubach regarding " back yard " scrambles.

I think that is a good comparison based on my filtered recollection of Tarkenton, who was in his prime a little before my recollection. Seeing him on video, though, does make the Book comparison seem pretty good. Fran was a fairly small guy too, . . right?

Fran was smaller, a little more dodgy, with a weaker arm, but piled up great statistics because

when plays broke down he would hit the open receivers. He actually is a little more similar to Staubach but Staubach was loved because he did his time in the Navy.

No, Archie had as much physical ability as anyone. Great arm, speed, toughness but he was saddled

with one of the worst teams ever and took a beating. He still performed well. He was way more talented than either of his sons. Plus, he was an absolute class act.
