Open letter to Jack Swarbrick

Dear Mr. Swarbrick,
Because of the warmth the ACC has shown us this year (who else plugs a one time member into it's title game without playing it's last game). We feel it would benefit the Notre Dame program to become a full time member. Sincerely, most if not all Notre Dame Fans. Also, could you find out if Stanford and USC still belong to a Power 5 Confererance. We no longer hear about them.

Me thinks there is a falsehood in your "open letter". Not to mention the donor class subset of fans, the people who pay for the buildings and get their names on them, aren't going to go along with ND becoming an east-coast-based conference team, if they would go along with giving up independence period.

Let's see, must play USC and Navy (remembering that the ND administration has repeatedly stated ND will play Navy annually as long as Navy wants to continue the series) so where's Stanford and the guarantee of an annual west-coast game?

Not so fast my friend, making a program altering decision based on 1 year of evidence,

is not the wisest course of action...Just like making such a decision after 2016, and ND's 4-8 season, (when many were screaming for ND to join a conference) WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE MOST PRUDENT COURSE OF ACTION..
I for one ,as much as Ive enjoyed ND's great season miss its independence . I hate being told by a conference what to do, a conference deciding to play or cancel games, a conference telling me what time games will start (road games) a week before kickoff, which will eventually extend to home games, a conference telling me this, telling me that, etc, etc..
We're Notre Dame, we were 33-6 prior to this year I truly miss the intersectional schedule, the rivalry with USC, the annual scrum with Navy the battles showing up on our schedule with Ohio ST, Alabama, etc etc the battles with Big 10 schools like UM, MSU, Purdue..
We dont need to listen to anyone..

If or when it makes sense financially they'll go.

It makes no sense financially, within the last year or so, the AD said ND's independence ,

has never been stronger And if its more money they want, they can take the NBC contract to other networks for bidding..

I agree especially if we keep USC on our schedule and have another game for rotation of opponents.

I am for it, with the added advantage of some of these teams coming to SB in Nov.

Five ACC teams, USC, Stanford & Navy with two horrible teams (last year Bowling Green & New Mexico). That leaves two spots. Miami is back to being a Top Ten program, North Carolina is decent & at some point Florida St. will be back to being Florida St.

Take that ACC trophy and say thank you very much. Stay Independent and forge our own destiny, is what I say! You want to be tied down like the Big10 or Pac12, as badly as those conferences have been led? No thank you!
