Lea went to Vandy and loves the school.

That said, they may want a guy with an offensive background.

if they feel he is future HC material, might want to set himup as BK heir now

How much longer is BK going to go? Prob not another 5 years.

Thread Level: 3

I'll put money betting that Kelly stays for another 5 years at least.

ND is no place for on the job training. If Lea aspires to be a head coach, he needs to go elsewhere and learn to be one. if he has success, then you can hire him a decade from now.

I think it was Ara who said I've been a head coach for 13(?) years and I needed every one of them to prepare me for the ND job.

of course he will take the job if offered, they wont offer unless they first meet

Did he have thoughts on how likely it is Lea gets the offer?

Not really. Just that they all think he’s one of the more impressive people they have met

So that Vandy would be lucky to have him.

Thread Level: 4

So, if he is hired before Irish finish season, will Lea stay till the end or abandon ship?

I’d imagine he will stay and coach if ND is in playoffs

Most coaches seem to do that. For example, Kirby Smart stayed at Alabama until they won the title even though he was hired on 12/5.

I would also assume that would be the case.

Especially with early signing period coming up. Recruiting will mostly be over for most schools and players in December. The old model of trying to work recruiting from December to February as a new hire just isn't the same anymore. I think if Lea takes the job at Vandy, he'll be with ND until season's end.

Thread Level: 5

If someone is employed by someone else, he should coach (and recruit) for them, not the Irish.

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.
