1. Bama
2. Notre Dame
3. USC
4. Clemson

- tOSU loses to Northwestern
- ND beats Clemson in a very close contest
- USC wins the PAC12
- A&M left out due to not playing in Championship

If we beat Clemson again, they are out... more likely scenario

-Bama smashes Fla to remain #1
-Tosu sneaks past NW in a game that shows how incomplete they really are, but moves up to #2
-Clem edges out ND in another tight game and moves to #3
-ND falls to #4
-facing first real competition all year, Bama melts under the pressure and ND knocks off another #1 this season
-Clem smokes tosu pretty bad
-the ND vs Clem tie breaker settles the NC

Don't see Bama melting. You gotta beat the best...to be the best.

Of course, if I had my true wish, ND would be undefeated.

I'll take it and would roll the dice in the final game. By the way you finally got your running

USC hasen't played anybody. Therefore they can't be in the final four

ESPN playoff predictor has USC with a higher chance than Clemson to reach the CFP.

Sure, but USC could still make the CFP. But ESPN has that angle covered.

They give USC a better chance at making the playoffs but, Clemson a MUCH higher chance of winning it all.

It's not so much who they've played, as it is they have barely won most of their games. Paper tiger

Cancel all ' title' games and have Southern Cal play Ohio State for the 4th spot.

As long as they play each other 5 times, that's a good idea.

It probably won’t happen but i like that...Yet,I don’t think it’d be fair to allow either USC or OSU

into the playoffs simply because playing in 4-5 fewer games (~50%)means less wear and tear, less of a potential for injury, less a potential for an upset (see Florida yesterday), and fresher legs. It puts the ACC and SEC teams at a competitive disadvantage. I’ve seen a few coaches and journalists talk about that fact but not nearly enough. It’s pretty much the equivalent of the NFL allowing a team that played somewhere between 8-12 games into the playoffs to play against teams that played 16. Your body takes such a beating over the course of a season. I get that this year is unique but the fact remains that three conferences decided to play close to a normal number of games.

It also sets up a little controversy if both USC and OSU win their championships. How do we know OSU is better than USC? Because they started higher in the preseason rankings? The PAC has been mediocre year after year but the B1G looks like garbage this year. Maybe I’m just partial because USC is our rival and I do respect them (and it’s more fun when we’re both good) but at least their league didn’t change rules to get them into the conference championship.

Exactly why if the CFP committee is going to let OSU in (they’re going to beat Northwestern) then the ACC and SEC should just cancel their championship games.

Part of me thinks the committee has just been humoring Ohio State.

Just for appearances and keeping up fan interest. At the end of the day I wouldn't be surprised if they were jumped by A&M even if tOSU does beat Northwestern. If I were in charge, I certainly wouldn't allow any team in the CFP that only played 6 games. It's wrong and unfair for so many reasons .

Don't think that's likely. If OSU is still ahead of TAM this week, then that's impossible

And it would be pretty fucked up if ND had to beat Clemson three times to win a NC, but Clemson could go 1-2 against ND to win the NC. But I guess I could see it. If it plays out as you indicate, I think Clemson clearly would be more "deserving" than TAMU. It would also be difficult for the committee to leap USC over Cincinnati if Cincy wins out (and therefore wins its conference championship). Currently Cincy is #8 and USC is #15 in the CFP. Also, if ND beats Clemson again . . . how is ND not slotted #1 in the CFP? Especially now that Florida is dinged with the LSU loss.

I think you will see a big jump by USC.

Especially if Ohio State loses. There will be pressure for an undefeated P5 Champ. I think Cincinnati's ship sailed when they were jumped by 2 loss Iowa State. My scenario is a stretch, but I wouldn't mind substituting Ohio State for USC.
