You seem to defend this Vandy stunt at every turn. You're one righteous person.

Let him go to Vandy for a hew years and learn the ropes as a head coach. When Kelly retires, he should be seasoned just about right for us

what if he fails as a HC in the mold of Diaco?

Agreed - he won’t be able to compete with the big guns of the SEC.

I’m not sure this is a good move for him. He won’t have shit to work with and it will reflect on the field.

Schedule 3 to 4 winnable non conference games

The east isn’t exactly murderers row. USC, UT, Missouri, and UK aren’t world beaters.

Draw Arkansas, Miss, Miss St some years and suddenly you have some potentially manageable schedules.

Win 7 games at Vandy you’re a legend.

If Lea is as good as we think, he will succeed at Vandy.

Does SEC allow that many non-conference?

They're pretty good.

That’s 2 teams. No one is suggesting Vanderbilt winning the SEC

Like I said, if he wins 7 games he a year he will have a lifetime job there. Which is possible, IF, Lea is as good as many think he will be.

Thread Level: 6

I hope he does well, it’s just a bummer losing him.

He will also need to be given at least 4 years to be judged fairly and put together his own complete roster of players.

Thread Level: 6

I’m certain he’s a great DC. No idea if he’s a good HC.

Which if he wants to coach at ND, and I think he would, it’s nice to get a free head coach “training” to see if he has the chops to do it.

Sucks losing him, but it’s also good to start building a coaching tree.

I don't believe illusions because too much is for real.

It would be a nice story if Lea proves himself to be a great HC, and then returns to ND some day.

I like Lea a lot. But I have no idea whether he'll be a great HC or not. There is so much that goes into it beyond Xs and Os and smarts, where I'm sure Lea has the goods. I wish him the best at Vandy. Tough job ahead of him.

Sets up nicely, doesn't it?
