ND beats Clemson goes to number-1

Should ND beat Clemson, is there a case for them to go to number one in playoff standings? Yes, Alabama is the most complete and talented team, but ND would have beat the number-1 and number 4-teams in the same year, albeit the same team.

Unless Tide completely melt down vs Gators, Bama is #1 and deservedly so IMHO.

If we beat Clemson twice, that trumps anything Bama has done this season

And we would definitely deserve the #1 spot.

.. but that is a very big IF.

Is there a case to be made? Sure. Will it happen? No.

If Alabama wins, I expect they stay #1. (Due to the ghosts of 2012 if nothing else.)

In reality, I expect Alabama to throttle Florida. ND can not rise above #2 without a win on Jan. 11th. (or beating Bama in a semi if it breaks that way).

Even in that case, no

Without a Alabama loss to Florida this Saturday, it's simply not going to happen.

We don't get any slack when it comes to the voters. 1989's and 1993's rankings should have been a clear indicator of that.

Sure, why not?
