What coach, be realistic, wd you hire as an upgrade to kelly? Nd use to have more built in asvantages than other schools. Now its clemson, bama, and osu.

ND's last seven (7) championship/semi-final/New Years 6 Bowl games:
0 - wins 7- losses
5 of those losses by 24+ pts.
Closest margin of victory - 14pts
ND in those 7 games scored more than 20 pts - once
In those 7 losses - allowed 30+ pts in every one
In those 7 losses - allowed 40+ pts in 4 of those games
I guess in your mind, ND should start making the mold for his Bronze Statue???
very true. We belong nowhere near the playoff. Neither does A&M or anyone else in contention for that matter.

sment in prime time. And if one really disects the earlier win over Clemson, the defense scored one touchdown and had another turnover that led to an easy score. The fact is that in Kelly's decade the offense really has sucked in all but one year. The best year, which was Kizer's first year, was exposed against better teams. Yesterday there were no adjustments, and ND couldn't score inside the 30 in the first half.

If at least make the call....
I remember when I said after '16 we should give Mack Brown a call, all I heard was he's too old and he's a downgrade, blah blah blah... how many more recruiting classes you figure before no one wants to step on the field against UNC.?
Point is just like Urban, Mack was jobless and now people just wanna let more years waste away without even trying. I'm not even calling for Kelly to be fired right now, but the primary thing to consider is the health of the overall program... right now that is very good, which if a change needs to occur the time is when the program is in good shape not once it begins to decline.
...just make the call and see what he says.
Kelly is who he is. A guy that can take mid-range talent and coach them up as high as possible. He has worked small miracles given his mediocre recruiting classes, but at the end of the day we are still Indiana of Bob Knight of the late 80's and 90's. A well coached team that lakes the horses to compete with the top of the heap. Now, my personal opinion is we are not going to do any better than this. I would rather win ten games a year than revert back to what Nebraska and Michigan are right now. Hell, I still have PTSD from losing five straight to BC.
It sucks, but it is what it is sometimes. I do not believe most of the elite talent Holtz led would even visit ND today.
If you don't think this you are blind...add a stud qb wr lockdown cb or big time pass rusher to this team...it's not like they need a complete overhaul of a roster
It's like the argument that Phil Jackson is the greatest NBA coach ever.
