I don't recall a Meyer QB who has come anywhere close to his college stats in the pros. A

case could be made for Alex Smith, but I'll argue he's underperformed for being the first pick in the draft.

How is Fields a Meyer QB?

He was on his way to OSU before Meyer had departed and it's still largely Meyer's offense.

Day played for and coached under Chip Kelly. He's not a Meyer disciple.

You win. Fields will be great in the pros and Day’s offense has nothing

to do with Meyer’s.

describe him as a Meyer QB. Generally speaking, any spread offense with zone read concepts is going to have something of Meyer's offense (though Meyer credits Bill Snyder at Kansas State when Michael Bishop was his QB with originating it). I happened to read a detailed article at Volswire a week or so ago on Day's offense in which any mention of a direct influence of Meyer on Day is conspicuous by its absence, and so I asked, how is Fields a Meyer QB.

As to Fields's pro prospects, he has rocket arm with natural accuracy, a rare combination. That's no guarantee of success, but hard to pass up.

Just kidding. Urban is all about winning and will never bypass Lawrence...

He won't last in the league if he keeps being a running QB

He'll turn into an old man faster than someone can say "Cam Newton."

Won't last in the league you say? Don't see how the Jets can pass that up then...

They'd be wiser taking more of a pure drop-back, pro-style passer

Besides, I doubt the Jets would pass up on Devonta Smith.

Take a slight WR over a franchise QB? That would be very Jetsy.

Where do you get this notion he's a "running QB" never had more than 500yds rushing in any season.

He takes off running instead of going through all of his reads

On any given play, he'll look for WR1, scan for WR2, and if WR3 is open, then he'll consider it.

WR4 almost never gets a look. If WR3 isn't obviously open, he usually takes off running, rather than scan for WR4. He had plenty of time this season, seeing how that offensive line did a nice job of pass blocking for him, especially against that weak competition.

That kind of method will get you killed in the NFL in the same way that Steve Young took way too many hits after becoming the starter in SF.

Someone like Mac Jones will last a lot longer in the NFL, since he tends to stay in the pocket, and if WR4 isn't available, he'll toss the ball away.
