Hiring Chad Bowden is not a done deal yet

I expect that it will get done eventually, as Notre Dame is not outright denying his hire. But there are some tricky logistical issues to be worked out. The hiring freeze at ND would have to be lifted. Depending on where that directive came from, dictates how easy that would be. If that came from BOT, then who knows how it will be resolved.

Then there is the task of creating a new staff position, and how that new position works with the current recruiting framework.

This move sure seemed to come out of nowhere. But now that the idea has been dangled and the impression that the coaching staff was trying to take recruiting to another level, it would be a letdown if this didn't happen.

What if Rees makes a fuss about hiring an "Offensive Director of Recruiting"?........

Why don't the university sponsor the new director's position? Salary and all. Something like "The Linebacker Bar and Grill Director of Defensive Recruiting".

Maybe not make a fuss, but request one. Should be kind of a gimme if they approve the D director of recruiting.

Let's have a bloated Alabama-like bureaucracy with assistants to the assistants and 500 analysts.

Wouldn't be a bad thing. As long as everyone knows his or her responsibility, might be a good thing

I would think this was presented to BK at Freeman's interview and was given the OK.

If it was, then one would expect that the logistics would be worked out by now.
