He's a 1990 ND Law School graduate, so he was exposed to ND football at it's zenith.
There seems to be alot of smoke that ND would be open to the B10 if they could keep the NBC deal. Given that the deal ends in 2025, and NBC likely won't win any of the Big 10 pie, I wonder if the B10 would consider that deal? CBS could/should also bid for ND home games (I prefer them immensely).
If I'm the B10, I would consider it because 1. it would showcase on national television one of your jewels, and 2. most of the home games would be B10 games.
The rest if the B10 would scream bloody murder, which would be the cherry on top.

Conference alignment so that we are in the division we are likely to win annually (I.e., we’re 1 of the perennial four powers along with OSU, SC, and …)
Primary preference in conference scheduling
Carve out for non-conference game
Capacity to leave with one year’s notice from ND; 5 years in reverse with possibility of negotiated buyout
Transparency in recruiting, auditing of practices, and baseline academic standards across the board
Permanent seat on governing body of conference, BCS committee (its successor)
