Please choose just one.

A. Independence forever

B. Full ACC membership

C. Full B10 membership

D. Full SEC membership

E. A new league, created from the fragments of other leagues.

F. ND de-emphasizes football.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
Invincibility with no vulnerability

to Notre Dame...our Mother. As fast as things are changing though, she may be too busy to notice the landscape at the time she answers.

Seriously, mere mortals are making these decisions....and we know how that goes. Tough call, and for certain I would like to see independence forever. But we must consider and accept, if and when it becomes the case, that independence can be the end of ND football. No one knows what the next few months or a year will bring. I certainly do not like it. Maybe the college football golden goose is cooked.... I sure do not know but accept the remote possibility. Let's hope the N.D mortals making the decisions stumble upon a good outcome for ND

BIG has NO Southern connection and that's where the best recruits come from. IF ND is forced to a conference it HAS to have Southern ties for them to compete.

I think C makes the most sense for the entire sports program.

Joining a conference doesn't have to mean your academics or reputation go south. No one dings Stanford for being in the same conference as Oregon. Or Vandy for being in a conference with...well a lot of lesser academic schools.

Having said that, the big 10 makes the most sense. Geographically, it fits. Academically, they aren't bad. ACC would have the edge there, but I don't see the ACC surviving. Maybe the big 10 will grab Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest to go with Oregon and Stanford. I don't see Clemson, FSU or Miami going North.

Eventually it may end up being de-emphasizing football, but until it reaches that point, big 10 makes sense. Even if we do de-emphasize football, there is still all the other sports to consider.

While I certainly enjoyed the football tradition at ND, it wasn't why I went there...I want ND to be revered as a university first, not unlike Georgetown.

the Holtz years. Schools in leagues have passed ND. League teams make more money. ND has to go undefeated to have any chance at the playoffs. The schedule has been watered down to the point the stadium is rarely at capacity. There is no benefit to being independent other than to stroke one's ego.

Never knew that Holtz ushered in independence at ND.

What a dumb post.

This is not a greed issue for me. I don’t care if ND makes more money or not. I like our current status, but believe we will be unable to go forward playing outside of some larger grouping.
