Ohio State is now favored by 15.5!

If this goes beyond 17, I'm betting the house on the Irish.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

I plan to take that bet. First game - all bets are off.

ND needs to keep the game close or media will start the "irrelevant" bs again.

The Irish may not win but must keep it close. This could be the most important game in the last 30 years.

New coach, new QB, first game on the road.

ND hasn’t performed well in big games. Would be surprised if it doesn’t get to 17 at some point. But it all means nothing when they kick it off.

Is Buchner good and is the moment not too big? Has the OL had enough time with Harry to take steps? Can the secondary hold up enough to get a few stops?

If so, ND will be in the game. If not, then it will be a long day.

replacements, Jim Knowles (OKST's DC last year) and Justin Frye (the OL coach at UCLA who worked with Day at Temple and BC ... and who I hoped ND would get). That will make things harder.

Well Knowles defensive teams haven't been too great the last few stops, so we'll see how it goes.

That is in the first year anyway. Apparently he needs to break it completely before he can fix it.

But what the hell do I know. Vegas also has us at 50-1 to win the natty, and USC at 15-1. That seems insane to me.

Got to earn Vegas’ respect.

Realisitically, we should not be expected to do well under all the circumstances.

We have a new QB, OSU is loaded with high draft picks and is playing at home.

Our goal should be to look respectfull and then grow throughout the season.

It would be wondereful if our QB excells and our D keeps their high flying O from hanging a high number on us.

I gotta say too much inexperience to play osu. Gonna get real ugly. Plus the asshole fans. I seriously doubt we can keep the QB from having a field day

The only way ND keeps this close is control the ball. I'd live on short passes to Mayer & have Buchner run some read option.

We use Mayer in our weak short game too much

Not so much talent or coaching ability. The betting public knows ND has new coaches, the recent history of the matchup, and all the PR both teams have received. Setting those odds means they should get a 50-50 split...

I do not believe that our two losses last year were any worse than theirs. Our D line and o line match up well with them. And we have runners who might give them some worries. And the best weapon on the field at tight end.

No getting around their edge at qb and wideout, that’s true, But I think Vegas is wrong, and smart money will be taking ND and the points. We’ll see in a few weeks.
