2010 MSU game on TV tonight. Crist had all the tangible skills. Damn he could have been good.

Kelly kept trying force square pegs into round holes

Dayne Crist was a classic drop-back, downfield passer. I think he could have done quite well with the personnel that we had (Floyd, Rudolph, Jones) in 2010 had he been allowed to scan the field and let it loose.

Unfortunately, Brian Kelly forced him to be a dink 'n dunk, spread-option quarterback, and I'll never forgive him for doing that, since he knew Crist had a bum knee.

That being said, Crist was having a reasonably good year (60% completion, 15 TD, 7 INT) before that cheap shot against Tulsa basically ended his career on a QB run.

Sad part is Crist could actually run when he arrive at Notre Dame he ran 4.58 and 4.64 at camp but tore his ACL vs WSU then that hit against Tulsa a year later pretty much made him a one legged runner from that point, sad case because he had all the physical tools but never looked good after the Spring game at Kansas!

Phil Jurkovec is ready for a break out year and an NFL career, no thanks to Kelly.

Did he not set the world on fire every game since ND lost him? That’s how I have heard it. Yet, he lost to us. . . Weird.

Yep! Give BK a 5* QB he's lost. Give him a 3* and he's cooking with grease..

Reallllly believe he couldn't handle the ego and mindset of a top-flight QB. Those kinds of alphas aren't what BK liked...a 3* who's just happy and proud to do the job was more his style. Not guys who want to go out there and destroy the competition and win the game...nah...give him the play it safe guy that just plays not to lose, thats it.

He wasn’t lost, just the 5* knew more which Bayou Brian couldn’t handle.
