Rees called a good game. Still not sure I feel confident about our offense though we're improving.

If we get past BYU with the Oline playing well and running the ball effectively,

then I will belive we have turned the corner. I think Pyne's success depends on those two things.

I don't believe illusions because too much is for real.

Agreed. The team's offensive success (and Pyne's) depends very largely on the OL and running game.

all phases complement each other.

The passing game can open up the run game when a defense is determined to stop it.

The offense will continue to be good so long as the OL can block like they have the last 6 quarters.

When we can't run the ball and the opposing D is getting pressure, then we'll find out what we are made of on offense.

I'm glad we were able to kick the crap out of UNC to head into the bye week on a high and to help with recruiting. Gives us two weeks to figure it out.

The offense will improve a lot with the play of Pyne. But Rees has to keep up his end and game plan

with plays from this week and not the ones from his entire career before that.

This week looked much like a Chip Long called game, and so did the first half of last year's bowl game. If Rees is smart, he will move away from the crap he was doing and build off these two instances.

Things fell in place yesterday, where the offensive line played like a solid unit, opened up running lanes nicely, and gave excellent pass protection.

That, plus I agree that Tommy Rees called one of his better games.

Still, it's early in the season, and while two games of improvement make things a lot more encouraging than what we were feeling two weeks ago at this time, we're going to have to keep taking a lot more big steps if we want to take on the big boys on the schedule. It's one thing to beat up a UNC defense that flat-out stinks, but facing USC and Clemson is going to require a good bit more progress.
