the rightful QB in 2017? In the rain, if I recall correctly.

Book won the starting job as a result of his OWN play!

QB. Then they realize that their development has been terrible. They might have actually regressed once they got to ND. So, they have to go with the shorter, smaller guy with the weaker arm and less athleticism who was intended to back up the more highly talented guy.
We recruit PJ and Crist but end up with Rees and Book and Pyne. None of those three have anywhere near the ceiling necessary to seriously compete for a NC.
the reality is you have to play with the best players on your roster. The ones that actually play the best. Not the ones that do the drills or look the best on paper. I understand the premise of your analysis here but if this is how things are actually working we are screwed and will never win a NC again.
1 star or 5 stars ... don't matter. I don't think anyone ever improved significantly while most regressed in an obvious way.
Important in yr world? Name a good one that wasn't accurate

has no idea what a QB needs to look like or how they need to play the game. They seem to be literally looking at paper characteristics and not evaluating based on real proven talent.

That along with his 54% completions proved he was the rightful starting QB.
one that used its weapons in a more distributed manner to create multiple issues for the defense to focus on. Not just one or two.
The OL began to gel. Third downs became less of an issue, and we were consistently getting better. We begain to consistenly move the chains and the 3 or 4 and outs drastically declined. All of those things were not happening leading up to that point.

His "statement" game for why he should be the starter was 11 games later in 2018 against Wake Forest. You could argue it was 7 games later when he came in to relieve Wimbush against LSU and made that late pass to Boykin for the winning TD. I'd still say it was Wake though.
based on your use of logic here?
