He’s a head case. Pressure him, hit him, tackle him and sack him and then watch his body language. SC’s d-line is no where near Clemson’s so hope Tommy Boy pounds the ball and set up Pyne for play action when SC is looking for the run.
This game is on Golden. Rattle that QB and make him uncomfortable is the key and learn from Ohio State, no safety blitz.
All Tommy has to do is not give Pyne too much to do. UCLA should have kept running Charbonet, and not force the pass.
USC is good on offense, but no world beaters. ND is more physical and should not stray from that.

Pressuring Williams is important. Oregon State did that to him and Williams went 16/36 for 180 yards
and a touchdown. USC accumulated 357 total yards of offense and barely won 17-14.
I've got to believe Al Golden will have a good game plan and our defense has a lot more dudes on it than the teams he's been playing in the PAC-12.
On offense, we just need to run over them and use limited and well-timed play action. We'll get in trouble when we try to get cute and throw on early downs and miss. SC has lived on getting turnovers so it is important to not give them too many chances. Drew Pyne has been good in limiting turnovers and he'll have to be good again on Saturday.
I'd love to see us get into 13 personnel with Mayer and Thomas split out, then bring in Mayer and Thomas tight so it is basically 14 personnel with no one split out for the first play of the game and run DUO with Diggs or Estime. Hit them in the mouth as hard as we can on the first play. Send the message right off the bat to our team and theirs that we are here to beat them up physically and kick their asses all night long.
I agree fully. He is a brat. I saw it early last week against
UCLA and last year with Oklahoma. Frustrate him and he is lost. Hit him in the chin a few times and he is done. Need a real physical game and hit him as many times as we can.

This isn’t likely but I would love to see watts or kollie spy in him.
Probably one of the other less mobile LBs who ‘know the system better’. Pass rush needs to stay in their lanes and have a spy to clean it up. That assumes we can get adequate rush with 4 linemen and cover with 6. That might bite a tall order
They will rush with more than 4. Oregon blitzed and pressured Williams and shut them down. Kollie
should spy him though because he has the athleticism to track him and get him on the ground.
If not Kollie, maybe even Sneed. Sneed could certainly handle that responsibility and sure as hell has the athleticism to do it.

Doesn’t have merit but I would be surprised if they did it. It’s not the safe call and we do favor more experience over athleticism to a fault.
My fear is next year all 3 senior LBs come back and stunt all our young talent at the position. We have some very good young and apparently talented LBs
I've been thinking about our recruiting numbers. If we take 27-28, does that mean that Freeman will
be clearing out a lot of the graduating seniors? I hope so. No graduating senior LB's should come back with the possible exception of Marist Liafau as he has the athleticism to belong with the younger group and seems to be starting to get it.
We currently have: Kollie, Sneed, Tuihalamaka that are all on roster and studs. Kollie and Tuihalamaka are ready to play right now. We also have Jordan Botelho and Nolan Ziegler. They all have far more athleticism than the graduating seniors. We can't sit them to play these same guys again next year.
We also have Drayk Bowen, Preston Zinter and Jaiden Ausberry coming in next year and they too have a far higher level of athleticism. The way we are recruiting, we will probably bring in another 3-4 in 2024 that are super talented and athletic as well.
The young talent needs to play because it's better talent. This applies to many position groups, not just the LB corps in my opinion. Freeman needs to transition the roster to one that is of the higher level of athleticism and talent the younger group possesses and a part of that is thanking and wishing the graduating seniors well on their way.

These guys are very good quarterbacks but they can be affected just like any other good QB with pressure and being hit
There is so much talent on these top tier teams they eat average defenses for lunch like it’s 7 on 7. The top teams can make some of these too offenses look very average with a good pass rush great LB and DBs. See Georgia and past Alabama teams. I hope we can do something similar to USC like we did to Clemson albeit with a better USC QB.
