You are under no obligation, that I've heard of, to watch such "lousy" match ups.

it's all about building towards the playoff as that is where NCs will now be earned.

If ND has 2 losses at that point, FSU will be a “must win” to make the playoffs

1. We can't just be Top 12 2. If we've lost 2 games prior to FSU we aren't likely to finish 10-2

Georgia Tech was better than advertised, firing on all cylinders, and Florida State played pretty flatly for the whole game. They really turned their program around, having to take years to re-tool the roster to a conventional offense, as opposed to Paul Johnson's triple option, and it cost Geoff Collins his job.

FSU probably wins that game 2 out of every 3 times, but unfortunately for them, the Yellowjackets were there on the third time. Maybe that's the slap in the face they need to wake up.

Despite the significant exodus of players last year, FSU still has a talented roster, and Mike Norvell has proven that he's a winner. Despite the fecal matter they laid on the field, I wouldn't underestimate FSU, and would think that they'll still have a decent season.

I see this situation as something similar to what we went through in 1995, where that blip against Northwestern at the beginning of the year was a huge embarrassment, until everyone realized how good (and lucky) that Northwestern team really was.

Off day? Or did they buy the wrong mercenaries this year?

You do have a point, that maybe they picked the wrong hirelings for this year.

They're overrated, Georgia Tech was underrated.

Still, with the amount of good talent they have on the roster, they should, by all rights, be able to have a decent season (top 25, at least).

This is Mike Norvell's 5th year. They're all his players, aside from a few players from the class of 2019 who redshirted as freshmen, and took a COVID exemption year. I don't think there are any Willie Taggart recruits on this team anymore, other than maybe one or two.

The playoffs may be a bit of a stretch for them at this point, but I'd still expect them to be a decent team when we face them.

thru the transfer portal year after year. 13 of their starters are transfers, 8 on the offensive side of the ball. So, even though it's Norvell's 5th year, they're not "his players".

What's going to happen if they lose 2-3 games early? Do those hirelings keep giving max effort or do they quit, fake injuries or not play hard because they are looking towards next years opportunities?

Texas A&M is in the same boat, they're talented, but are they going to be good and what is their response to adversity going to be? The past 2 years the answer has been, "not good".

Should be interesting.
