Still can't get over how clutch Mitch Jeter was on Saturday

Not sure enough has been made of how massive that last field goal was. Had he missed that, A&M woud have had 30 seconds and the ball near midfield. The defense was so good all night they probably still hold, but A&M would have had a real chance to send that into OT. Huge kick from Jeter.

He's an SEC kicker who's automatic inside 50 yards.

I expected him to have some stones at A&M, and he did.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

Although one EP (maybe two) and one FG were poorly struck. Lucky to have made them

It was a ballsy call by Marcus that I don't think BK would have made.

I love the call, and from a sports psychology standpoint I think it sends the message to your players that you have confidence in them and trust them.

Gutsy indeed

I would have taken the delay of game, moved back 5 yards, and pooch punted, since our punter was doing a nice job of placing them.

Thread Level: 3

So what would we have said if that kick was blocked and they scored a touchdown on a return?

At that point it was pretty much the only way they were going to get a TD

That and we didn’t kick off out of the back of the end zone

Sorry, I work with radiation and I don’t have the luxury of not considering risk management.

if they'd returned a punt to the house, you'd be asking why they didn't try for a field goal.

But it doesn’t mean it a good call just because it works.

It was ballsy and it worked but that’s not always the case

field and tie or possibly get the TD and go for two and win. I was holding my breath when he kicked it, I did not mind the call though and it worked.

Had if it didn’t work.

U can’t have it both ways. It can’t be ok because it worked and not ok if it didn’t.

Thread Level: 7

It worked. Let it go. Less than 1% chance it gets blocked and run back.

and it got blocked, returned for a TD and changed the whole momentum of the game and PSU ended up winning. It was the start of the return to PSU football who have since gotten more solid. I dislike OSU but I really can't stand PSU and that turned them around.

Kicking the ball, in my opinion, was the Least risky option. Our kicker was damn accurate on the last two attempts.

This is correct, plus on the value added side of the coin, making the FG virtually (like 99.9999)

sealed the victory.

Up 10 with 30 seconds left..not much in the playbook for A&M to work with in that situation.

Like what if Christian Gray whiffs on jumping that route? He didn't, it was aggressive and is the right way to approach the game of football, IMO.
