Did the same last year with the Crimson Tide fans around here

Everyone around my neck of the woods are either Crimson Tide or War Eagle fans. I'd thank my friends who were Tide fans last year for taking Tommy Rees off our hands.

Their reactions:

Before the season:

"You don't know what you're talking about! Tommy Rees has much better talent here. He's going to show you Notre Lamers what a real OC can do!"

During the season:

"Come on, he's going to kick some real ass once things get settled in. He wasted too much time with your Notre Lamer quarterback (Buchner). Once he understands the talent, things are gonna fly!"

After the season:

Even the one fingered salutes made me smile.

Let’s hope it lasts. Freeman is very good but the 2 coordinators are top notch.

My wife is from Old Forge. She might have connections that might have punished me for that.

My HS football team played the Old Forge Blue Devils in the 60's. Your reference is no doubt to the town's large Italian American population.

Old Forge had a coach named Elio Chigiarelli. He, like my team's head coach, was definitely not somebody a player wanted to piss off. I still remember halftimes at our Old Forge games when each coach seemed to be competing over which one could assault more of his players for screwing up in the first half!!!!! God, I'm old!!!!

PS: I seem to recall Old Forge had a running back named Scavo (sp?). He played at Arizona State for that hard-case coach Frank Kush. Coach Chigiarelli no doubt prepared him well for Coach Kush.
