Not on coaches

The coaches put together a team, put a game plan in for a each week, but the players are the ones who need get the job done. Yesterday we got whipped on both sides of the ball. That ass whipping goes on the players. ND is not the only team in 2024 to have this same problem. You saw it with the 1st quarter. 75 yards in 13 plays and looked good. Then, the players on both sides of the ball lost the will to play and the will to win. Today's players are not hard nosed, can't take adversity and lack the will to win.

Football is a compact sport. You have to want to knock somebody down. Our O and D did not play with any urgency and certainly no ferocity. NIU played with the desire to win the game. They knocked us off the ball and won the scrimmage line. They had the will to come into South Bend and kick our ass!

While NIU has some portal players, their roster has 32 Seniors. What a great nucleus for any school or coach. I was not surprised to see us lose. Our athletes play the game but certainly don't have the pride and spirit of NIU. Those NIU athletes came to play and never quit. Athletes that play the game like NIU did will almost always slay the giant. Our 3, 4 and 5 star players got whipped. That is on the ND players.

"In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail." " Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser." Vince Lombardi

"Winners embrace hard work." "They love the discipline of it, the trade-off they're making to win." "Losers, on the other hand, see it as punishment." "And that's the difference." Lou Holtz

"Show me a good and gracious loser and I'll show you a failure." Knute Rockne

The players didn't decide to give Love and Price 15 carries and let a weak Qb throw it 31 times

The coaches certainly share the blame.

MF signed off on Riley Leonard as the default QB and convinced someone to shovel him $1 Million.

That Million bucks also means that MF may not want to admit to buyer's remorse.

When you have no idea how to fit the wildcat you got coaching issues.

When you have no ability to go downfield more than 5 yds downfield on O you have coaching issues. Even if those issues stem from decisions as simple as who is chosen to start.

That's on the coaches.

But now, we have been hearing that Denbrock and Golden are among the best at their jobs.

D didn’t play awful but couldn’t get off the field and couldn’t get stops when needed. The O was an abortion, especially run blocking and the QB.
