....hype after TAMU. All of the MF supporters keep blaming his inexperience (after 2 yrs.) as a HC. So my question is, where the f^@k was Golden & Denbrock to set MF straight??? You would think with their experience (especially Golden who was a HC & who played for JoePa, who never let his kids ever believe their hype), would have pulled MF aside last week and have told him he better get a hold of these kids or they're going to get bit by NIU.....!
himself because he is protective in that regard, which is at least honorable, rather than throwing them under the bus. In this case he had a legitimate reason to pull him because Riley wasn't the same after that first drive. In Riley's case he should have reported being banged up after that first drive and Marcus could have helped him reach that conclusion. Inserting Angeli for a series or two would have been a possible solution to the poor offense say two drives after the first drive. It would have given Riley a chance to get healthy as he was clearly hurt and get back to the game plan as he recovered more.
...one of a number.
I get that Marshall followed a loss...but since his first regular season game was against a very good OSU on the road...he had actually exceeded expectations slightly in the loss and was expected to easily handle MAC school, Marshall.
The rest is history...as, I believe, is Freeman...but not 'til 2 years from December...
then all this conversation is moot. I am going to root like hell he gets it done. However, I think he better be careful this game, because if Leonard tanks again he better have Angeli prepared to come in this game by the second quarter. That is not to say that Riley should be benched forever but it does give him a chance to change things up if one or the other struggles.
we'll be talking same issues
I don't think he distinguished himself at ND as DC either
just a terrible move. by Swarbrick
What I'm posting is my present feeling, that in year 3, Freeman has fallen far behind where he should be, even as an assistant aspiring to be a great HC...
I certainly and wholeheartedly hope that I am wrong and he is able to correct things from here on in...
I will continue to cheer on Notre Dame...and you won't find me booing in the stadium ever...
Only speculating. The players need to take responsibility too. Cross said at halftime they all realized they were in a dogfight. Even that didn't ring a bell with these guys. #5 in the country. First home game. Playing in front of the student body. National TV. That wasn't motivation enough? Where the hell were the team leaders and captains? You have that "C" for a reason. This was a titanic failure on everyone, starting with Marcuus Freeman. So what's the strategy now? Us vs them? Them meaning the Iriish fans? MF does have a record of coming back after bad loss. Losing to a decent Marshall team. Beating a bad Californiia team. Losing to a bad Stanford. Beating a bad UNLV. Losing to a unknown NIU. Hopefully beating the Boilers.
Denbrock came to ND to run the single wing. This is where MF is losing support from fans. It's more than just losses to inferior opponents. He's now becoming the one consistent to an offense that from nearly all measures has sucked for 2+ years.
Only he didn't do it that way. That's on Freeman.
