Been watching ND football since the late 60's - many of the "WTF-type of losses", i.e. NIU........

being the latest, happen at Home, regardless of the HC. Just an observation - been to South Bend many X's for home game weekends - starting on Friday the campus environment becomes a "Catholic Disneyland!" w/pep rallies, football luncheons, stadium tours, etc. w/fans, players' families & their friends, are all over place - gotta believe this is a huge distraction for both the coaches and especially the players. We have enough data over the years to consider this.....if I'm MF, he needs to take his team way off campus after Thursday's practice (do their Friday walk through someplace else) and not return to campus until the pre-game Mass....

I’d turn current stadium into a museum & concert venue and build a new one in the white lot

Your analogy to Disneyland is right and while it is a special experience to go to a game, I think that robs the team of something.

Thinking ahead before the season started and NIU, I was wondering if we’d be at a disadvantage with a home game in the CFP.

This is spot on. The game is just a part of the experience.

Traditions run amuck. Thats stuff is more important to the older generation, alumni and donors than the game itself

Doesn’t the team get off campus the night before the game?

And not sure how that stuff is a distraction?

Thread Level: 4

I don’t think it creates a distraction but some really quiet and subdued fans

It’s not a church or museum people. It’s not illegal to make some noise
