Good breakdown from some former ND players on a couple of offensive plays

I don't subscribe to the Patreon but I have seen a few of these. They all have the same theme. Riley has time and open receivers but is bailing too soon or just doesn't see them.

So do we grind it into our QBs head not to throw a pick so he

Is gun shy or does he just not have the patience or skill set to throw it.

We really thought we could teach this kid how to do this at 22 years old? Holy cow

Dude threw for nearly 3k yards 2 years ago...

...there has to be some skill/upside there.

Out of his four years, there is one outlier and it is 2,794 yards. Digging into the entire data set

tells the answer of what we are seeing.

The entire data set tells me he only played one full season...

...the rest tells me very little when he was either a freshman or injured. I'm not saying he was Joe Montana, but he clearly has a higher potential throwing than he's shown.

Thread Level: 6

It was pretty common knowledge that he was an average to mediocre passer

when they went after him. It was a risky choice, IMO

Thread Level: 6

I'm in the "show me before I believe camp". Haven't seen anything in the data or game play that

makes me believe RL is a starting QB. Too easy to defend/shut down and accuracy is extremely erratic. I am surprised the media mentioned confidence was apparently an issue. I took him to be a bit more headstrong.

Interestingly in his last 8 games (not counting the last two he played hurt last year) he only has 3 TDs and 5 picks. He only broke 200 yards passing 2x (248 high). Ouch.

That is removing injury and is 67% of a full season.

...but a hopeful one. Because they're clearly riding with him for the foreseeable future.

Thread Level: 4

Does he look like someone who might throw for 3000 yards this year?

He is antsy in the pocket, really doesn’t go through his reads and tries to get out of the pocket at the first chance.

It might be the o line or the play calling but he does not look like the same QB as he was 2 years ago.

I'm hoping the coaches can help him find his lost mojo. Maybe they need to give him a feather like Dumbo, lol.

Thread Level: 4

Normally would agree but half of those games were 200 yards and under.

If I thought it was CJ waiting in wings, I might feel differently, but it's not. Angeli is like the yang to RL's yin. Combine them and they'd be pretty darn good.

Thread Level: 6

This is very true. They compliment each other but neither is good enough in their own

I don't get this. All Angeli has done every time is to play very well

The only flaw I see in his game is pocket awareness where he seems oblivious at times to the pressure, but other than that he's performed at a very high level.

Just like with anyone else. Need to see it over a few games against all competition.

It’s Goolsby and Jared Clark. Kennedy just posted the clip.

If Kennedy played ball for us...he looks like a kicker at best 😆
