"2024 is too far away is way I say that. The momentum Kelly built in the program is starting to wane." - https://forum.uhnd.com/forum/index.php?action=display&forumid=6&msgid=515956

I like MF. He's a great guy, but it is very clear he doesn't have the chops to be a HC. At least not at this juncture. He needs more seasoning or is a guy that's a better coordinator so he can just focus on one single aspect of the game.

It was time for Kelly to go. He's a great program builder and will make a great AD. His gameday and style leave a lot to be desired for because he's good enough to get the team there but never prepares enough to win it all and his ego is entirely too large to find real success.

For all the recruiting hype the rough average of MF classes are in line with BK's. The talent is higher now and tends to play more than in the Kelly Era but the coaching is worse and the eyesore blunders at QB continue. The handling of QB may even be worse under MF. The schedule is weaker and the product is more faux. There has been a decline since Kelly left. He morphed a 6-win program into 8 and then 10.

MF inherited a 10-win program on the rise and has slowly worked it back towards 9 with declining momentum. But you say look at recruiting... On average, it's exactly the same, with high spotty slots as Kelly. You say we are better... look at the rankings. On average we are the same to worse and this year have the easiest road to the playoffs. We look abysmal relative to the schedule we play in 2024. There couldn't have been an easier chance.

MF is slowly derailing the program. If he doesn't salvage the season by benching Leonard we will lose two if not three or four more games. Recruits will leave and not sign. Great coaches will come and easily poach what talent we do have. With all the backs we have it also makes no sense why Ford gets so much playing time. Moves like this are keeping the Offense at bay. Someone has to step up and make the obvious right choices or this train will come off the tracks so fast, 10 years of hard, hard work will be undone in 4 months.

I watched a lot of FB yesterday and it feels like CFB has passed ND by

Hiring MF is symptomatic of the fact that ND had its cake for so long with its own network and brand and dealing with everyone else on its own terms that it really doesn’t know how to compete in a modern world, assuming in the first place that it wants to.

So, in some ways, I blame MF, but in others, I don’t b/c he was a guy who was hired b/c he could be controlled and was naive enough to take the job and not realize the situation. But that’s the hubris of inexperience: my hard work can overcome any obstacles. It cant.

At least in the area of QB recruiting for sure. What did MF see in RL?

..becoming…will part ways.

(ND will still have football…but will stop pretending it can compete at the highest level.)

Yep. And while it pains me I ultimately agree.

It might be possible to put a pro FB team on a campus with 50k kids. Not so much with 9k kids. And in any case, it’s diluting the college experience.

this would be dissapointing, but not shocking. ND is already doing this without issuing a statement.

Kelly left when his value was at it's highest. He knew this too.
