Seems like there is little sense of urgency in Freeman. Just lets shitty playing roll right

off him. Are there any consequences to these guys when they play like their coach coaches?

I was hoping Denbrock would break this cycle, but apparently that’s not gonna happen.

RL struggled to throw the ball against NIU so what did he do against Purdue, they rolled the pocket. They used a lot of misdirection in the past game, getting it to the tight end and opened up some shorter easier throws for RL. Next game, instead of saying, this is what we do well and keep the chains moving they then try to drop RL back and have him make throws that he’s not confidently able to make right now

While I don't think RL is the right guy for the system, I believe the coaches have tried to use

the MAC opponents as games to "get RL going" (in terms of passing). It seems they understand it's going to be needed but also, for whatever reason, seem to be contractually obligated to play RL no matter what.

Thread Level: 4

Has anyone looked into ND being contractually obligated to play RL no matter what?

Guessing not, behind the scenes. Very limited by 3 2d string OLs. Duke QB & Edge also weak so far.

I think the OL has played extremely well.

How much of RL’s issues are his injuries in camp & OL injuries?

I don’t think he’s a great downfield passer but he looked a bit better in the second half. Seemed to be developing a bit of a relationship with receivers on the single read plays.

He’ll never be CJ Stroud but I can’t imagine that’s what was expected when we got him.
