Denbrock and MF, where is Guidugli in this narrative???? When MF hired him, he was supposed to be the "2nd Coming"; great QB developer (developed Desmond Ridder at Cincy into a Heisman contender & a 3rd round NFL pick), brings 13+ yrs. exp., was the OC at Cincy, etc. In 2023, he got Hartman to finish the ’23 campaign completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 2,689 yards with 24 touchdowns. Shouldn't we be asking what is Guidugli doing/not doing to earn his paycheck with the poor play of RL???
you are what you are. At some point, no amount of coaching can change that.

Can't change a kids throwing motion once they're at that age, never works, but footwork issues are easily correctable and effective.

never sets his feet long enough to display issues. He's looking to run all the time, as he's not comfortable throwin
NFL QB's work on their footwork, moron.

but he didn't say anything about Leonard.
He responded to a post that said "if a kid is 18 and is inaccurate, it’s never gonna get any better regardless of the coach"
No wonder this place is a cesspool anymore.
Who are you to dismiss people’s opinions?
What kind of phenomenal athlete have you ever been?
Something that ColeyO and Westcoast, think isn't true or necessary.
Which is about as ignorant as it gets, even for this place.
Don't need to be a great athlete to understand basic football 101 stuff that gets seen and talked about every day. Their ilk just wants to shit on ND's QB at any cost, no matter how stupid they look doing it.
Riley Leonard should have better read and footwork by now.
He’s not freshman.
ColeyO appreciates your coming in and sticking up for his ignorance with your own. Nice work.
Thanks for pretending your opinion counts so much more than everybody else’s.
How come Nebraska never recruited you?
Did you go straight to the pros?

Of “ifs”. While rarely getting the right guy, right.

Cat type of QB. You make do with what yr handed, if yr not the head coach

He's a good running QB, but to say that he is a better running QB than everyone in the past (since 1989) simply isn't true.
Jackson, Wimbush, Battle (from the limited sampling we saw in 2000), and Holiday were all better at running the ball.

Think if Wimbush had an OC that didn't try to turn him into Tom Brady, we'd be singing a different tune about his ND career. Kid was a 6'3 235 lb gazelle.
running ability was off the charts. A key game for him was against Georgia. We could have won that game with a break or two, a turnover less, or better preparation for that last play call on defense by Georgia. They blitzed from the right side and caused the fumble that ended it. Ironically two years later the same blitz was called from the left side, which I could not believe we weren't ready for, and Book was forced to scramble and throw up a prayer at the end to Claypool who was held down trying to jump for it, which was clearly interference. We definitely should have beaten Georgia the year Book played.

The entire situation isn't ideal. His number never supported him being rated so high and he was injured prior to signing him. The coaches knew he would miss spring ball. I am curious, though, how much input Guidugli had in his evaluation and decision to bring him in.

Leonard wasn't some high level passer before he got hurt, he was decent but mostly because the threat of him as a runner opened up easy passes for him.
Him missing the spring was massive and he's missing easy passes that he has the ability to make...so it's mental, most likely because he spent the spring taking "Mental" reps.
3rd Spring did not produce the dumpster fire we’ve watched.
I’ll give it to you that at this point it’s in his head. However, he was never a good passer, ever.
Being a great Duke football player does not translate to ND. It’s a different level and we are seeing that with both RL and the absent Oben.
I clearly said he wasn't a high level passer even before his injury and the passing success he had was mostly because of the threat of him as a runner opening up easy throws.
The difference between him here is not his level of competition...NIU, Purdue and fucking Miami of Ohio...are you kidding me?
The difference is he isn't even hitting those easy passes that he lived on before...it's not level of competition, it's that he's not playing as good as he did. If he gets his head straight and stays healthy we'll be fine and continue to improve. If he doesn't then we're fooked!
that has exposed what RL was.
In RL's last NINE healthy GAMES. He has four TD passes and three picks. There is no development that will fix that.
Why would we pay 1 or $2 million for development?
but you only like objective truth with it favors your crusade of the moment.
I said the following:
-RL wasn't a high level passer before he got hurt (objective truth)
-the passing success he did have was mostly from his threat as a runner opening up easy passes (objective truth)
-then he missed the spring which compounded things (more objective truth)
Didn't think I needed to mention that he missed spring, at a new school, with new team mates, new coaches, and a new offensive system since even though it's all objective truth, it's also just common damned sense.
